Fun and easy-to-use new ice cream mold

The small holes at the top of each mold are for overflowing. Luckily they don't fill holes. Instead, you fill the bottom half of the mold to (just below) the fill line and push the top of the mold in, pumping water into the balls. The "bowl" area at the top of the mold is very useful for catching the inevitable overflow when you push it into the bottom of the mold. (Also, while spilled ice cream isn't as attractive as scoops, it's still ice cream.) Note that you'll need to somehow "lock" the two halves of the mold when you press the top. I use my finger to "click" each edge in the bottom half. They need a tight seal to form a true sphere. In my freezer, ice cream scoops freeze in about four hours. YMMV. I like the instructions that came with it. It's fun and actually helpful - if they hadn't told me to actually roll the mold I might be too careful with it when de-icing. You have to twist it back and forth to separate the balls and break any edges that may be present. It's worth cleaning the mold after each use as this will help prevent sticking (although "sticking" is probably an exaggeration). Without cleaning, it's a bit harder to tear the top mold off the ice. never mind
