I have bought several SONY Blu-ray players and they have lasted 6 to 18 months except for the last one (which I am returning) which broke immediately. They usually work well for a few months and then stop working unless you unplug the device from the wall. At this point, you need to unplug the device about once a week, and then every few days, and then they just stop working. The apps they offer are an attractive feature and they include Prime Video, but that doesn't help much when the device itself is chronically buggy. I have an audiophile friend who has bought several SONY products over the years, but he informed me that you need to spend at least $500 to get a reliable unit, since the materials they use are otherwise so unreliable are. they are almost guaranteed not to work. I find the lack of business ethics at this company absolutely astounding. So unless you're willing to shell out at least $500, look elsewhere for a Blu-ray player. Apps aren't worth it if your gizmo doesn't work.
