Tips for removing an old stuck knot

Part is present, works great. Healed rattling tube syndrome. The old pressure equalizer in my shower is VERY stuck. TIP: after you have removed the outer cartridge and loosened all the fixing screws; and without kinking or breaking the piping, pry the gray outer part off the old pressure equalization unit with a screwdriver. Using a 1/4" or smaller drill bit, drill 2 or 3 odd-angled holes in the stuck block, being careful not to damage the inside of the brass body. This will destroy the structural integrity of the old stuck block; after drilling of some holes, reach into the area around the case with one hand and push in, with the other hand, take a pair of long needle nose pliers and insert them into the two original vents (hot/cold) in the pressure equalization block and pull out the old block, that's how the extraction of a tooth with hard roots!
