The wiring harness in my 2004 Tacoma 3.4 deteriorated over time resulting in the "exciter" wire no longer powering my alternator, which caused my charging system to fail while driving on the freeway Night in the mountains, 50 miles from anywhere, no cell phone reception. It was 29°F outside and I managed to hobble back to my cabin with the LED headlight and stick it out the window.
