Installing on a 2013 Ram 1500 Crew Cab

I bought this kit for my 2013 Ram 1500 Short Deck Crew Cab. I have a BakFlip G2 on my bed and they match the duvet rails perfectly. I was able to run the wires through the factory holes to make all the connections under the back of the truck. I installed a switch (you will need double sided tape) near the bottom hook for attachment to the back of the bed. This allowed me to pull the entire wiring harness, including the fuse holder, through the factory opening and stow it under the truck. I wanted a clean install so I removed the spare tire. This gave me access to the existing wiring that was attached to the frame. I buy a 10 foot 3/8 loom roll from Home Depot for less than $3. This allowed me to plug all the cables into the loom (minus the connectors) and tie everything to the existing factory wires. To power the lights, I removed the trailer's 7-pin connector from behind the bumper. For my particular truck, the red wire supplies 12 volts and the black wire is ground (your may be different). I carefully removed about 6 inches of the existing black tape and then stripped 1/4 inch of the insulation on each wire about 4 inches from the 7-pin connector. This allowed me to wrap and solder the wire. Use liquid electrical tape over the connection and re-wrap everything in black electrical tape. One thing you will need to do is add about 5 feet of wire to both the power supply and the ground harness that comes with the headlights. Double sided tape for the switch would be my only downside to this lighting kit. I'd happily pay a few bucks more for it instead of buying 18ga wire and wasting time installing it. Split the wiring harness around all the wires and secure it all with the existing wiring harness on the chassis, all over the spare tire and looks clean from the factory. Very happy with the final installation.
