When I first got my aquarium it was a 10 gallon tank that my mom cleaned every 3-4 months. After dabbling in the hobby a bit, I found that all this work wasn't necessary, I just needed to remove about 25% of the water and vacuum the debris from the gravel. At the time I didn't have an easy way to do the latter, so I started looking online. I came across this article and gave it a try. All in all, this thing is amazing. I have FOUR tanks that I clean with Fluval EDGE: a 3 gallon spout, a 10 gallon rectangle, a 16 gallon spout and a 20 gallon rectangle. Although it takes a bit of creativity to get the water flowing in the small tank (tipping between decorations), it works great. I believe this product will work even better for larger aquariums. If you're looking for a quick and relatively inexpensive way to keep your aquarium looking good, this is a great place to start. One piece of advice I can give is for smaller aquariums: when the water starts to flow, flex the hose a bit as you move from one spot to another so you don't remove the water as quickly. Stick the hose in the gravel, straighten the hose and watch the debris fly out! Highly recommended.
