These things are NOT easy to use. After spending some very frustrating hours trying to get it to work without success, I FINALLY found a method that works. I'm sharing it here so you can avoid the same troubles. Step 1. Ignore how they tell you to set them up. Step 2. Carefully peel the top plastic layer of the light strips themselves from the 4 metal tabs at the bottom where the light says they can be cut (see pictures). Step 3. Fold the metal tabs on the back of the light strip so they are now facing the opposite direction from the light sources, trim off the excess plastic. Step 4 Insert the folded light strip, tabs down, over the spikes into these slots. Close the connector. This is the only way I've found them to actually work and work well, but my goodness what a headache
