I may have gotten sick

Recommended by my dentist I've been trying for a week by dissolving the tablet in my mouth before bed but my question is how do you use this product without swallow some of it? Over the next few weeks I struggled with symptoms similar to colitis/diverticulitis. I have no way of proving they did it but I didn't change anything else, I stopped using it and the symptoms eventually subsided.
