Poor and Misleading Installation Guide

Great idea. Missing Information: If you have a roll-up garage door, you need at least 25 feet of available space in your garage across the width of your car. If you have an 8ft ceiling and mount the canoe as shown, you will not be able to fit your car under the canoe. If you are going to load your canoe into a vehicle you will most likely need to turn it upside down, which is very inconvenient and difficult, if not dangerous, with the strap provided. I ended up buying a rope with hooks so the canoe could be hung upside down and attached to a pulley to keep it from tipping over. If your garage ceiling joists run the width of the garage, as they most often do, you'll have to improvise how the ceiling brackets are installed, as mentioned by others. The company does not recommend using just one screw. I ended up with a residue and a toggle switch. My garage has two layers of 5/8" thick drywall to prevent fires. The screws provided were not long enough to attach the brackets. There are no clear instructions on how to set up blanket rolls. They are L-shaped with a pulley at one end, for a single pulley, it should be closest to the double pulley. The video describing how to thread the hoist rope is pretty bad. The rope must be threaded over the double pulley very carefully, or it won't work. I watched the video 4 times and every attempt failed.I finally looked at the meager printed instructions and was able to figure it out.The locking mechanism sounds great based on the curtain system concept. But curtain ropes can be pulled straight down. The canoe lets Don't you.. I finally hung up the canoe but I still haven't got it off my car Lowered as I need to rearrange it as things are stored in my garage. I'm ashamed to admit the number of times I've hit my head on a canoe at 6ft 5in. The distance between the canoe and the roof rack on my Honda Fit is about 5 inches. I hope this detailed description helps you to determine if this product is right for you.
