Review on 🌞 bayite BYT-7A006: Quiet DC 12V Solar Hot Water Heater Circulation Pump with 3M Discharge Head and 2.1GPM Flow Rate by Stephen Johnson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good DC pump but annoying noise

This pump is a handy little device for light 12V DC water circulation The inlet and outlet are very small and you must be careful not to over tighten the threads as the necks are made of thin are plastic. Of course, such a small centrifugal pump is not self-priming, so it's best to keep the reservoir above the pump inlet. When operated with 12 volts, the pump emits a somewhat annoying but not too loud howl. Reducing the voltage reduces the power and this noise, and the pump can start and run at 5V (USB voltage). I use it to circulate water in a liquid cooled LED grow light system. The pump is powerful enough to pump water through a small radiator and several feet of pipe and hose to an LED system, even when running on just 5V DC! I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the necks are very weak on the threaded connections, there is nowhere to place the tool and a high pitched squeak when running at full 12v. If you intend to use it for a short time or in a non-residential area, this shouldn't be a problem. If you want it to run continuously in a living space like I did, consider running it at reduced power or blocking the sound in some way before you buy. The body of the pump does get a little warm during operation, so you don't need to pack it too tightly if you want to try to cancel the noise. All in all a good pump that serves its purpose. I will update my review when he starts misbehaving.
