The pump quietly pumps water.

Received quickly and got what I ordered. I installed a Bayite pump, BYT-A006, in my solar water heater, it moves water and is very quiet. The specs say it's good for 100C / 212F and I hope it lasts a long time, I bought a spare just in case. I've been struggling with pumps since 2012: first the Topsflo TS5 failed (through my fault I didn't drain it for the winter, it froze and the casing cracked), then in subsequent years, two Tanga DC40E pumps failed every year after one After years of…

Well built but won't last more than a year

I liked this pump more than any 12v pump I've bought. Unfortunately, the food grade is misleading. Sometimes it seems to get stuck or suck air and eventually fail. It seems to get stuck in one spot and when the engine returns to that position it won't start. I've gone through one of these every year for the past 3 years. Everyone fails the same way. The wiring also turns black and also conducts poorly (no waterproof cable). My pumps seem to get stuck with algae and end up causing problems. I…

Pros
  • Handy part
Cons
  • I have no particular complaints about it, everything is fine

Blown out in 4 hours

Worked well for the first few hours but blew out after the fourth hour. The engine just hums. Wires are thin 20 gauge, should be 1 size larger. It drew 0.75A from my 12.5 volt battery, 0.9A from the 16.5 volt solar panel. I measured about 1 gpm at a head height of about 5 feet. A little less with a battery, a little more with a solar panel. There were no instructions so I was never told what not to do. I tested partial panel shading and had no problems. Maybe he won't survive the sunset. But I…

Pros
  • Annual trial period
Cons
  • There are doubts

Good starter pump for home brewing but needs some attention.

For the water pump this would be a 5 star rating. If you buy for it, then this is definitely a good water pump. My purchase was for a home brew pump. I wasn't expecting anything too amazing, but I was pleasantly surprised with the initial performance. The pump speed is a bit slow for me to get a really good hot tub, but good enough to keep the circulation going so my heating elements don't ignite the wort. The second time I used the pump it wouldn't start. I had to disassemble and clean it…

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Update availability

Good DC pump but annoying noise

This pump is a handy little device for light 12V DC water circulation The inlet and outlet are very small and you must be careful not to over tighten the threads as the necks are made of thin are plastic. Of course, such a small centrifugal pump is not self-priming, so it's best to keep the reservoir above the pump inlet. When operated with 12 volts, the pump emits a somewhat annoying but not too loud howl. Reducing the voltage reduces the power and this noise, and the pump can start and run at

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Quirks

More than 10W solar panel required

[Updated in 8 months] I turned off the pumps (I have 3 of them) for a few months over the winter but drained them plugged in and left exposed to low temperatures. And we had severe frost in February! When I turned the pumps back on in the spring, they resumed their work as before. So the reliability is fine. Now they work on a timer, every day about 8 hours a day. I'm assuming they've already been outside for over 1000 hours (albeit out of direct sunlight). Blackboard. I have water pressure…

Pros
  • High score for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
