Not authentic, hard pass look elsewhere.
I would urge anyone who thinks this is a good Marineland product to bite the bullet and go to your local store and buy the more expensive one off the shelf and keep it. You will quickly discover that they are fake and not worth the money saved. Luckily I have some charcoal and some other filter media at home, I mostly just use the plastic frame and rip out the filament and charcoal because it's useless. After changing it and spending time I just had to buy more expensive ones from my local store. These filters are hard to find elsewhere.
