Liquid ingress into the handle is due to very small holes in the weld between the blade and the handle. Looks like the seam was sanded too far. Unfortunately, I didn't use/realize it until after my return window had expired. Obviously this is a health issue as I can't empty the pen or clean the inside. So I take the risk of contaminating future products. When you buy this item, leave it in a bucket of water for a while and check if there is water in the pen. Otherwise, this product has met all expectations. Its size and strength were just what I needed for my application.
