Spending two days and two nights in Lucerne, this little adapter was all we needed. In the hotel bathroom, my wife used a 120/240 volt curling iron and iron that plugged directly into the adapter with no problem. IMPORTANT: Please note that this product is an ADAPTER - it only adjusts the shape and orientation of the connector pins; It does NOT change the voltage from 240V to 120V. This requires other equipment, a converter. If the electrical device is only rated for 120V - do not connect this device directly to this (or any other) adapter that plugs into a 240V outlet - you must have a 240-120 volt converter and use one of the 120V sockets on the converter. However, if the device is rated for 240V then it is safe to connect directly to the Ceptics adapter. I also have a 240v to 120v converter but it didn't have a compatible plug for Switzerland so I connected it for the US. Plug the converter into the Ceptics adapter and plug the adapter into the bedroom wall socket. All 3 120V sockets and four USB ports on the converter worked fine, although I never used all sockets and ports at the same time. Although this adapter only has one grounded outlet in the US (but 2 USB ports!), it's an excellent choice for small 240V devices in Switzerland, or 120V devices if a converter is also used between the adapter and the device.
