Review on πŸ’§ BURCAM 600541B Blue 2.1 Gallon Inline Pressure Tank by Michael Norwood

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The Canadian NPT differs from the US NPT.

This tank was disappointing from the start. This seemed to solve the pressure problem of the aggressive activated carbon filter chain. It had to be installed between the filters and the fridge to maintain enough pressure to fill a glass of water. The ad says it has a 3/4 NPT fitting and all the pictures show the tank has a male fitting. If I had believed that I would have ordered plumbing parts to install right away but some of the reviews made me skeptical so I waited. The device arrived and the first disappointment was the lack of mounting hardware. In the manufacturer's defense, it's usually designed to fit over a 3/4" pipe (if the fitting was 3/4"), so I can ignore that. The second and much more important thing I noticed was a 1 inch plug sticking out of the bottom of the tank. Any information (regardless of size) says this fitting must be NPT (National Pipe Thread) which must have tapered threads. Just in case my eyes wobble I grabbed a 1 inch sheet from my stash and in fact I was only able to get about 1/2 turn before the thread closed. After a trip to a local hardware store I was able to source a tank from the US (Burcam appears to be in Canada) with all the plumbing and mounting hardware. The tank was $10 cheaper so I got it right after the refund, but I could have installed it a week sooner if I just went to the store.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
