Took me a while to figure out that with my system, i have to put the little white insert that is in the mouse, into the drive on my laptop. Then leave it there. I try to remember to switch off the mouse, to conserve. I've had this for a month or more, and it appears to keep itself charged. And I wouldn't try removing the white insert from my drive--it's super hard to do, and so far, not necessary. If I have to, I'd use a pliers instead of bare fingers, just to keep equal pressure on opposite sides.
