Absolutely normal! I still need a brush with wire bristles.
I'll give it a 4 for using it on a real cast iron griddle. This brush does a valiant job, working hard to remove burnt bits and beans stuck to the pan. Since this brush is really made for non-stick pans, the bristles are not too hard and are "wiry" enough to get the job done perfectly. five stars. I suspect this is a tool that needs to be changed regularly, just like dobbys or sponges as the bristles are already softening.
