Read the instructions. Use the largest tool pin size that fits the chain pin.
This was perfect for a thick Harley Davidson chain. I broke off the tool pin only to find I had to go up a size. I used a wrench for tightening instead of a metal crank and just as I thought he pushed the chain pin out as far as it could go. I did 1 last turn and the pin popped out. This tool does what it is supposed to do and is not as expensive as other similar ones. The thickness of the chain switch is more than enough, it will not bend or break.
