This is a great mug, to travel or not. I had this mug for many years but I lost it. What I like about it is if you're used to using a ceramic mug because you love how your lips curl up at the top but want something to keep your coffee warm between sips and your drink not between sips to spill. , this is the mug for you. Most trips I take with it are from the kitchen to the living room. I almost never wash this so it gets coffee stains over time. A little bleach will take care of that. The slider on the lid works well, but over time the coffee clogs and clogs the vent. A little bleach and paperclips will take care of that. I suppose you could just pop it in the dishwasher, but over time the mug itself will likely lose its glued rubber base. I see no problem with putting the top in the dishwasher.
