Review on 32" Monitor ASUS ROG Swift PG329Q, 2560x1440, 175Hz, IPS, black by Andrey Tomov ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

There are several shortcomings, but, it corresponds to the norm.

So, before that, for 10 years I didn’t use a monitor, but a 32-inch Full HD Sony TV connected with an HDMI cable. It also comes with 3 connection cables. For maximum efficiency and support for all functions, connect with a DisplayPort 1.4 wire (I have an RTX3070 video card) I play at arm's length. While the monitor is not buggy - it's great! Fully pays off the investment. But. There are some drawbacks as mentioned above. Yes, and advice: In order for the monitor to allow you to change the brightness / contrast settings, you must first turn off HDR in the "display settings" in Windows 10 itself! Otherwise, the menus in the monitor are simply grayed out. I play either in HDR if the game supports (I eat a cactus expecting a random loss of brightness over time) or with dynamic lighting turned off, in the monitor settings (if it starts to flicker) If the game does not support HDR, and also for the usual long-term sitting at the computer and working with documents, and for the YouTuber, I set the following settings: For regular sitting at the table, I use the sRGB setting. IMHO, it is she who is the least harmful to me when sitting at a computer for a long time, otherwise you can go blind. Although I would make it a little darker.

Pros
  • FLAT, which is rare, 32 inch 2k monitor with a fast IPS matrix. All others with these characteristics are either curved or cost space. This one is flat, which is why I took it. The colors are buzzing, the brightness is like looking at the sun. At night it blinds that my mother is dear. It has a bunch of settings, including presets for different types of games, cheating things like crosshairs for hardcore shooters.
Cons
  • HDR is buggy! ! The monitor randomly dims in HDR mode after 1-2 hours of play. It helps to either turn the monitor on/off or change the HDR mode to the console and back to gaming. That is, the problem is also discussed on lenustechtips, one person has already changed 2 monitors and the problem has not gone away. They said that they might change it with the firmware, but then I had 0.28, but I had 0.31. I really hope for a new firmware (v032, 033? ). Because when HDR works without failures (the first half hour of the game) - the image is a bomb, and you don’t want to refuse it! I called technical support, they said that the decrease in brightness is due to the fact that the monitor is trying to save the matrix. LOL WHAT ? + They said that the firmware at home can not be done. That is, everything is fine with other manufacturers and HDR can work for hours, but for an expensive Asus it works from 30 minutes to 2 hours without failures? Why isn't this listed in the user manual? In short, I wrote to the European technical support. Let's find out what's there. Therefore, the assessment of "image quality", "assembly quality" and lowered from 5 to 2 points, because HDR at the moment with such bugs to use is a headache! I don’t even know, everyone likes the monitor, but this glitch with a random drop in brightness . . And what to do? Wait for the next firmware and hope that Asus will be able to fix the situation, or what kind of defective microcircuit they use when assembling their monitors, and, accordingly, a mass recall of monitors is needed . The product is not the easiest. There has been no official response from Asus yet. . In addition, sometimes dynamic dimming does not work very well. That is, if in a game (especially a dark game) with HDR, the picture starts to flicker on your sides (it periodically darkens for a split second), then turn off dynamic dimming. Not very convenient joystick and monitor settings control keys, which are located on the rear panel, need to be constantly pulled. The front panel would have been nicer. In general, for such money it would be possible to invest the remote control. Yes, and it can't be 10 bits at 165 hertz, only 10 bits at 120 hertz.
