These are good lights for use on a four wheeler or pontoon boat. You can use them as daytime running lights on a car, or maybe high beams, but the speed at which the car is moving may be too fast for the power you get from these lights. In addition, they would blind other motorists, but they would not distort the distance required for the high beam. However, they're fairly bright for their size and power rating, and they work well for a boat or SUV. The beam is a combined spot/fill pattern. More of a spotlight than a spotlight, but the light emitted sideways around the spot is enough to serve as a decent spotlight. Although the 6 LED light has a wide and flat shape, it casts a wide circular spot forward rather than a flat narrow band. This is the same image I would expect from a single large round lantern. The wire is a bit thin, I think it's a 20 or 22 gauge, but they're only rated for 18 watts each, and at 12 volts it's only 1.5 amps. and the wire will wear it well. I have yet to install it on my boat but before that I will add some sealant to where the wire enters the body. It looks like it's a guaranteed place for water and moisture to get in, so I want to make sure it's sealed well. The hardware appears to be stainless steel, at least the mounting screw, washer and nut anyway. This screw has a shank size of 8mm and a length of 25mm with a thread pitch of 1.25. Small mounting bolts and nuts, not sure if they are stainless steel. They're more like they're just nickel plated. Time will tell if they rust or not. The mount itself is definitely steel and powder coated. Be careful when installing them not to scratch the surface and they most likely will not rust. Also, get a longer Allen key to fit the smaller screws. The option offered is simply disappointing. To install them I believe you need to thread a large bolt through the bracket and put a nut on it to hold it in place and then place the bracket up to the light. . Then remove the nut from the bolt and proceed to install it on the car. After installation, use a long hex wrench to loosen the small screws from each end to adjust the lighting angle, and then tighten them again. Please note that you will only receive two pairs of lights, a set of 4 individual lights with mounting hardware. No wiring or switches. From my research, the cable sets they are sometimes sold with aren't worth buying anyway, so why pay more for them? I plan on running my own circuits and using higher quality Carling switches. My photos only show a light in my backyard. The tree line is about 60-70 meters away. There were 4 lamps. Can't wait to install them and see how they perform on the water. I will update this review with results and more photos. As for durability, I'll update my post over time. Let's see how long these last.
