UPDATE: ordered replacement, still bad. I tested it first and there was over 8ppm ammonia. So I ordered the 3rd bottle hoping the 3rd time would be a charm. And nothing. All three bottles I received were filled with dead bacteria. They all tested 8+ppm. So I got the product and I've never used these nitrifying bacteria before but I've heard it's really great. However, after reading the reviews and noticing the ammonia spike, I decided to give the product a try. Before adding the product my ammonia level in the recirculation tank was 0.25ppm, about an hour after adding nitrifying bacteria to the tank it went up to about 2ppm. Then I read reviews that said if it smells like rotten eggs or sulfur it's bad and the bacteria is dead and mine actually smells like it. and then in another review it was decided to test for real bacteria in the container and the ammonia went off the charts which i did and thats what i got. On the far left is what was in the bottle, followed by mine before the ammonia and mine after adding nitrifying ammonia bacteria to my aquarium.
