Review on ๐Ÿšด ThinkRider A1 Bike Trainer Stand: Indoor Exercise Riding with Power-Meter Compatibility & Speed Cassette Included by Agustin Bush

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Slightly below par but cheap setup

Okay so cheap. So I adjusted my expectations. It is not easy to set up as the instructions for IKEA are not clear. They have a different configuration depending on which bike you use. 29ers, 700Cs, etc. should work just fine as long as you play with the adapters that came with them. I took a break and used stable FTP at 225 watts. I'm out of shape so I went back to 120 watts (maybe I haven't done an FTP test in years). It offers performance telemetry within a certain tolerance range (probably within +/- 8%). But then again, I don't compete, so it doesn't matter. I'm sure it will speed up energy conversion to keep the price down. No ERG. Yes, especially at this price. Pairs fairly well with Zwift via Bluetooth and my Revain Fire tablet. I need to try ANT on a laptop as I have more ANT devices like cadence and heart rate. It comes with an 11 speed cassette which is of pretty poor quality. Think of it like the speed of a Sora version 11. Paired with a 105 group everything was fine. Surprisingly no complaints. The bushing is some type of plastic or polymer. Maybe fiberglass. I think to keep costs down. Probably reduces the noise level as well. Doubtful survivability, especially under heavy loads (e.g. does it bite?). I don't set high power, so I can't comment on short sprints and maximum power. I don't think sprints should be done on a machine anyway. If you want a cheap setup and don't worry too much about accuracy, this is a good route.

  • Solid build
Cons
