My son wanted to make a mug for Dad for Father's Day. I researched how to do it and what to use (everyone seemed to have different ideals). Here's what we did that worked for us: We bought a glazed white mug from Goodwill. We washed with hot soapy water and rinsed well. We never touched the area we wanted to write on with bare hands (oil from our hands can ruin it), we used gloves (like a doctor's). We outlined the drawing on the mug with carbon paper. We wrote directly on this marker. We're leaving for a few days. We put it in a cold oven, increased the temperature to 350, then turned it off and left it overnight (6-8 hours). Then we just left him alone until it was time to give it to him (I think a week). Dad uses it every day for his coffee. It heats water in the microwave until it boils (instant coffee). It was hand washed only, maybe it will be fine, but we are worried. 3 weeks in use and no signs of wear.
