I've tried other Carol's Daughter products but they never worked well on my 4c hair, even after washing a few HSN segments. I have compared this to other top notch brands (TGIN, Maui, Aunt Jackie) and this product is definitely a must have when it comes to real kinky curly type 4 hair. Disclaimer: I have 4c colored (bleached) hair. very thick, dry, damaged and slightly curly Pronounced Oil Level: None (more like a serum feel) 💁🏾‍♀️ FIRST USE / APPLICATION OF THE PRODUCT ON THE HAIR: → Weight on wet hair: very heavy → Weight on dry hair: very heavy, weighs like your hair soaked in water → Stickiness to hair: very sticky → Water requirement to detangle: not a detangler, more of a styling agent. for styling): Yes, but it 'wets' hair (but doesn't curl) → Best for damp hair (as a base): Maybe because it's so heavy (tried on wet and completely dry hair). I thought it would work better as a rinse off product. → Dry hair needs a lot of product: Yes. → Wet hair needs a lot of product: Yes, wet hair as it is more of a whipping product than a cream. → Adds definition to curls: No. → Adds volume: No, adds weight. → Moisturizes when dry: No, makes hair sticky and heavy. → Dries and locks in moisture: No. → Stays that way Product on hair: Yes, the product gives the impression of coating (applying over) the hair, but the hair never absorbs it. → Does the product soften the hair (when dry): No, it only makes the hair wet. It knocks the hair down and doesn't help separate the curls. 💁🏾‍♀️ PRODUCT FAKE AND/OR LIKE → This product reminds me of brands like Cantu, nature's cream, dark and beautiful, more targeted drugstore brands up to WOK. Products that smell really good (and too strong) but are not suitable for 4c hair. GENERAL/FINAL THOUGHTS → I would NOT recommend this product for thick, coarse, 4c curly hair as it weighs it down too much. and leaves a sticky residue. This product does not moisturize, does not slip, helps detangle hair and is a product that does not absorb well into my 4c hair. This product is better suited for other types of wavy or straight hair that can tolerate strong odors and prefer heavy products. I would recommend tgin Miracle RepaiRx Curl Food Daily Moisturizer (Link: https://www.amazon.com/Miracle-RepaiRx-Daily-Moisturizer-Natural/dp/B07K6TWB9D) as a daily moisturizer as it is simply the best for hair 4c .
