Good lock but WILL NOT rust

I purchased this lock in early August and installed it on my barn door. By mid-October, the mechanism was rusted, making locking and unlocking difficult. Decided to grease the lock. I used PTFE. Now it seems to be running smoothly again. However, I wonder how often I have to go through the lubrication procedure.
