This monster fan in a small package is a commercial quality fan, not the cheap ones you find in big department stores . The cable is very thick, the strength is not inferior to the fan. I bought it specifically to blow air on my face during a long run and it does the job perfectly. It has a standard three speed chain switch like a ceiling fan. The only problem I had was hanging it on the beam myself. I drilled a hole for the prescribed lag bolt and had the correct socket wrench ready to screw in, but the fan was heavy enough to be uncomfortable when trying to hold it and attempt to run the bolt. Once the bolt had a bite, everything was easy since I didn't have to service the fan. Consider letting your friend assist the fan while you secure it.
