I used these to attach a lift top to a coffee table I built (see photo). The table top is not too heavy for these supports despite the solid wood. They might even be a bit over the top to raise the top of my desk. They open unevenly, so I have to lift them at both ends of the table, not the middle, or else it will curl up. The main disadvantage of them is that they are very difficult to close and do not open straight up and down. It took some effort to line them up properly so the table closed evenly on the base. I might take a set of spring retainers and swap them out to see if that helps. The table measures 2 x 4 feet and the top of the lift is 3/4" thick.
