I use these for sunglasses which are about 8mm wide at the widest point of the temples. It held them in place very well until after 1 year of daily use they came loose and the earbuds broke through the material. If you take wheezes in any frequency or have a wider earbud, they will definitely drop out sooner. The material is also like a sponge. If you wear them every day, I recommend hand washing them at least once a week. Overall, I'm not a huge fan, but there doesn't seem to be anything better.
