Catches oil splashes, but not completely
It's important, but not very noticeable. Where there used to be large drops of oil from an open pan, I now have medium sized drops. It's still a big mess that I have to clean up. It also just comes from making popcorn or frying food. I dare not fry with this thing. It is much more effective than strainer or vegetable/fruit rinse. Washes well in the dishwasher and holds up well. It's just not very good for its intended purpose.
