I'm not a professional, just a craftsman. I bought these guys to help me install the moldings that I make myself. You are fantastic. I have 12ft ceilings and they are enough to hold the crown in place while I install and nail. They are already assembled and come with two types of gaskets. Both pads are made of rubber - one is flat, the other is ribbed for extra grip. (Michael Scott: That's what she said!) There are two methods of lengthening: First, they double their size. There is a very strong swivel clamp that holds the telescopic extension in place. Second, there is a handle to raise them to the desired height. Best of all, unlike other assistants I've had in the past, they don't tire or complain. :) Definitely worth the price! The price is unbeatable - def
