The faucet door actuator on my 01 Explorer Eddie Bauer failed last winter and I finally found time to replace it a few weeks ago. In the meantime I finished my door by hand. The Ford Motorcraft drive for automatic HVAC control (aka EATC) is quite expensive (around $60), while the Dorman drive is much cheaper (around $14-15). The Dorman drive cost me less than $4 with my Revain/Chase goggles, so I decided to give it a try. Aside from a few fit issues (bolt holes didn't line up perfectly, plastic base had to be removed, and drive shaft was stuck), the Dorman part works and is a good valve for the price. Before installing a new drive, it was necessary to run the EATC self-test to reset the EATC settings. There were no instructions for the new actuator so I had to figure it out myself.
