Based on my experience, I can definitely recommend this device. It's easy to calibrate - the instructions are very clear. You simply take it out for five minutes to purify the air and follow the on-screen instructions. When I finished and filled out the calibration, the HCHO and TVOC values jumped quite high at first, but then slowly returned to normal levels. As the guide suggests, it's best to leave the device in the room for at least 5 minutes to get an accurate reading, as the numbers tend to rise/fall slowly. Also, I noticed that the numbers went up slightly when I held the device in my hand or breathed nearby, and went down as I walked from room to room (perhaps from the "breeze" of walking). So just put it anywhere for 5 minutes to get an accurate reading. I tested consistency by taking the unit back outside after testing every room in my house. As soon as I took it outside, the values dropped to 0.000. When I went in, HCHO and TVOC went up. I retested each room and got almost the same results as the first time, plus or minus 0.002mg/m3. I now believe that there is no way to test accuracy without comparing it to another product's test results, but I am confident that the values are more or less accurate simply based on general ventilation and materials used our house. If I test my indoor air quality with a different product in the future, I will update this review to reflect that data.
