READ BEFORE BUYING! Will pollute the water! Culligan Verified Tests

I strongly recommend that you do not purchase this item. Culligan, a water expert, came to my house today to test the water. I have well water with two filters for the whole house on my main supply. The first filter in my house is a Culligan filter, the second is a carbon filter. A man from Culligan found high levels of nitrates in my water. He checked my water before the filters and found nothing. He thought the old filter might be the problem and asked me to replace both the polypropylene filter and the carbon filter. Nitrate stayed at 4. My activated carbon filter was 3M and a Filtret brand filter. He was sure it was a 3M filter and not a Culligan. In short, we tested every possible combination. Bypass both, bypass only this polyester filter, bypass only the 3M carbon filter and bypass neither. He found that the nitrate levels were highest when passed through this Culligan filter. He was shocked! He meticulously documented every test he performed and said he would report it to everyone he knew about Calligan. Initially he thought it was the activation of the charcoal filter that was causing the false positive, but after all the various combinations of tests he advised me NOT to use the charcoal filter. We also found that this might be because this filter is made in China. He asked if he could take the old Culligan Fiberpun filter (which I removed) for further testing, not for me but so the company could understand why this filter is adding nitrate readings to the water. Whatever is added, nitrate or not, it cannot be too beneficial to consume. It's overwhelming when the Culligan person tells you NOT to use the Culligan filter. The only reason I even requested a test was because I have a three week old newborn at home and didn't want to give her water from the well until I was sure it was safe. I think I'll stick with bottled water. Be careful!
