Great flash, only complaint is you should use.

Great flash, only complaint is you have to use a group of focus points to turn on all the auto focus indicators on the flash. Firmware update required. I mainly use it to bounce light off walls instead of directing the flash at objects. That issue aside, it works fantastic and doesn't overheat. Don't overuse it though, as you can still damage capacitors with 100+ consecutive shots.

More than I need but worth it!

Third-party flash upgrade that wasn't "quick" enough for my needs. With a little research/tutorials online I was able to do (with a few test shots) everything I was hoping for. The real test comes next month when I do a full training session at the New Orleans convention. I will update this review after this event.

Pros
  • Finally bought
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for elderly

Currently the best flash for Nikon SLR cameras

This flash is perfect for any high end DSLR (I have a D850) that is a full frame DSLR (D750, D800 etc). It has great light output and I can even use it with a 70-200mm lens and get enough light in a low light room. I was happy that it works with most of my lenses. I usually use my workhorse 28-70mm and 70-200mm 2.8f lenses for various indoor shooting conditions. I also use it for tag/tag flash fill and find it adapts very well. Caveat: Make sure you set MODE to TTL and FP and turn BL…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Legacy model

Good quality but quality issues

Update: After only 4 months this flash stopped working. Even the manual test flash does not fire. Very disappointing. This is the only Nikon flash I've had problems with. The second time I used it, the bounce card came loose in my hand. I was able to reset it and use it multiple times. But shortly after that the card got stuck and I couldn't get it out. I've been using my Sub-700 with a bounce map for many years. i am troubles This one is also more difficult to use and the screen is difficult…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Pros
  • Superb design
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Update: Flash "paid off" on grandson's birthday/Disneyland trip - no batteries to carry around, didn't overheat as advertised after a few exposures, great fill flash on the road, didn't work Don't miss the moment! I used 8 iMah HR6 AA 2400 mAh batteries. Conclusion: Fantastic photos when used alone (10 stars). The cooling system works! I haven't tried the wireless capabilities yet, but my main reason for buying it was that I was able to take 100 consecutive photos before the flash fired (that…
