Review on Roof bike rack THULE ProRide 598B black by Michal Dobiasz ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I'm amazed! It was definitely worth the money!

We recently became owners of mounts 598. I will say right away that we chose between 591 and 598, after reading literally 1 article, the choice became obvious for us (I will not describe the improvements, more literate people have already done this). The trunk (crossbars) installed wing bar evo gum under the "crosses", which does not need to be cut, made our choice unequivocal. Before that, we used evroride 943 on the towbar - great, but because of the change of the car (they didn’t want to put the towbar on a new one), we decided to master the roof mounts. Well, later we plan to purchase a box for skiing, so we decided to “put down” two birds with one stone. To be honest, even when unpacking and assembling thule, you experience positive emotions - everything is simple, you don’t need to adjust anything, it is securely fastened, well, what a great thing to say. Installing 4 mounts on a car takes about 10 minutes, one person can easily handle it. But installing bicycles on a mount is a more difficult task, so far only in 4 hands, perhaps with time and experience I can do it alone. If there was a sedan, it might be easier, but it’s not convenient for a crossover. "Crossbeams evo" left on a permanent basis - it seems that it does not spoil the view, the noise is really 0, I did not notice the gas consumption. 4 bicycles are installed on the roof without any problems (the photo clearly shows 2 bicycles with 26 wheels, 2 with 27.5 inch wheels), they rode along the highway to the region, kept the speed at 110-120 km / h, they didn’t make much noise (with the windows open you can hear a little), they hold up very well. It is not entirely clear in terms of fuel consumption, in the city the consumption was 8.3 liters, on the highway it should have decreased, but it showed 8.3, apparently due to bicycles. Disadvantages - given the height of the car, a good, not very large, comfortable, foldable ladder is needed, we are looking for it! 4 keys closing the fasteners, of course, were outlined so as not to get confused (with electrical tape of different colors :), but we are thinking of purchasing a set of larvae of one key for 8 or 15 locks. We have been familiar with thule mounts for 7 years now, the safety and ease of use are quite satisfactory for us personally!

Pros
  • Simplicity, reliability of fastening, the ability to install 4 fasteners on the machine
Cons
  • It is not convenient to mount on a crossover, you need a stool and an assistant. No flaws were found in the mount itself.
