I work from home most of the time and have a 4 lb 14 year old Yorkshire (Minnie) and other older small dogs. I raised two puppies who kept trying to play with Minnie which caused her a lot of trouble so I put her on the couch and got her out of the way. The puppies were adopted at 6-8 weeks but Minnie was so used to the couch that she wanted to lie on it all the time. But when she wanted to go down or back up, she would bark and wouldn't stop until I did what she asked. I was constantly getting interrupted at work and was sooooo excited. Also, if I left the house I would have to think about putting her to bed or face the aftermath of an accident on the couch. I've been looking for a ladder but she has short legs, arthritis and she won't be able to use it. Then I found this ladder. They have a gentle incline and each step is low enough for easy ascent or descent. Immediately understood and voila! It can be raised and lowered at will. No permanent breaks! My other two big ol' Yorkies have arthritis and can't jump on the couch anymore, but now I find them there all the time. The lid is thick and won't snag on nails, the bottom has a tile-gripping surface, and the foam appears to be of great quality. The investment is worth it and my house is much quieter now. I will definitely buy 4 steps for my bed.
