Review on 🎨 Wagner Spraytech PaintEater 0513040 Electric Palm Grip Orbital Disc Sander Kit for Efficient Paint Removal and Sanding by Aaron Charlton

I bought PaintEater to remove peeling paint from my porch. Unfortunately, it overheated after just 15 minutes of use, causing the internal thermal switch to trip and could not be reset. So I called Wagner and they told me to trade it through Revain, which I did. It was a shame because I was hoping to use the 3 days off to work on my porch. Ah, that happens in life. When the replacement unit arrived I let it run for about an hour before it also overheated and died. This is the main design flaw of the device. After an hour of use, the grinding wheel was almost completely worn out. The paint I was trying to remove was "sticky" which is probably why it was being rubbed through the sanding wheel so quickly. Oh, and for the record, I didn't put much pressure on the device. I used it with about the same force as a random orbit sander. This thing will overheat even if you just launch it while holding it in the air. I will be returning my second defective unit later today and will not worry about replacing it. Cons: - Overheats, blows internal thermal fuse/switch rendering it unusable. - Spare wheels are expensive ($15 each). - Dust spreads everywhere, but there is no dust collection mechanism. A mask is essential and cleaning is a hassle. Pros: - It's easily 4 times faster than a random orbital sander with 40 grit sandpaper. - The high cost of replacement discs is probably justified by the time saving. - The side grip is useful for keeping the thing under control. Nibbles: - The power cord is always in the way. It's very short so an extension cord is always required (and that's fine) except the bulky ends of the extension cord + power cord always get in the way because it's so short. - The velcro hand strap sucks. My hands are on the larger side (usually an XL glove) and when I put on velcro work gloves the strap doesn't fit my hands.
