PaintEater is a good name, a powerful spatula and sander in one.

There is a certain pleasure in using a power tool to do jobs that used to be done by hand. Just watch the Tim Allen reruns. PaintEater is to the scraper what the Washer is to the bucket and sponge. Yes, you can scrape and sand, but finally there's a power tool that can do both at the same time. The most important thing is that everything is ready to paint when you're done. The whole house will take time, but a day of PaintEater replaces a week of scraping and sanding. the paint or it will look…

My wife loves it in the Paint Supplies & Tools section

My wife wanted to paint her garage door and started with a paint scraper. It's like trying to clear a driveway with a teaspoon after a snowy story. I wanted to wait until spring; She wanted to make it before winter so I bought her this thing. She sanded the entire garage door in about half an hour and most of the sanding wheel was still there. Since she had never used a rotary sander before, I showed her how to apply the right amount of light pressure on the work surface to allow the sanding…

What a GREAT product! 10 STARS!

I am 73 years old and I wash, sand and paint a 115 year old wood paneled house. I read the reviews and thought I'd give Paint Eater a try and gosh I was glad I did. I bought 30 Second Outdoor Cleaner, an inexpensive store washer that would be Rhimes "beautiful" and a paint eater. Wow, what a great combination! In the beginning I used a paint eater first and then rinsed with water but did the opposite. First I was able to pressure wash away a lot of loose peeling paint, dirt and scum with a 30…

Area 3x3.including 2x.5 min. Doesn't work anymore

I'm glad this article is eating paint. I have a painted porch that needs to be disassembled and repainted. I thought it would cut my time in half. Ordered on 25/06, arrived on 27/06, unpacked on 28/06. The product matched the description. Went, pocketed it and started in a small area. Didn't apply too much pressure. Disables the item to switch to another area. It ran and the item was visibly hot. Switched off and checked visually. Tried to light it again and nothing/nothing. Didn't turn back…

  • Inspires confidence

  • Definitely bad product

It stays decently cool with prolonged use, and that in turn.

This tool uses some paint. I bought this to paint one side of my house and it certainly did the job. It stays comfortably cool with prolonged use, which in turn keeps your hands cool. It did a great job removing damaged and peeling stains from the home. You have to be careful with it, it will get you to the finish quickly due to its power and vertical design. Two-hand operation is mandatory, which is not always possible from stairs or in certain situations. With this machine and a hydraulic…

Works like clockwork - until the thermal fuse blows. Carefree design.

First of all it works and the discs seem to last a long time. A lot of reviews complain that the discs chew quickly so I ended up buying several to remove polyurethane from the concrete pavers that covered my entire backyard, but no, just one disc was enough. It worked much better than paint removers and pressure washers. Now I'm going without two starts because there is a non-resettable fuse inside that will blow if the windings get to about 200F. That would be fine, except that for more…

Works as advertised

My old house has 13 old oak doors. They have about 8 coats of paint on each door - 4 latex paint on top and 4 oil paint on bottom as far as I can tell. I've tried random orbit sanders, belt sanders, paint thinner, and heat guns. They can penetrate all latex, but take hours to get through enamel that's been on it for decades. I've had the most success with a heat gun and scraper, but it still took me about 8-10 hours to get the paint off the door. I bought Paint Eater and tried it for about 15…

  • High marks for hold and durability from testers

Overheats and goes out in paint sprayers

I bought PaintEater to remove peeling paint from my porch. Unfortunately, it overheated after just 15 minutes of use, causing the internal thermal switch to trip and could not be reset. So I called Wagner and they told me to trade it through Revain, which I did. It was a shame because I was hoping to use the 3 days off to work on my porch. Ah, that happens in life. When the replacement unit arrived I let it run for about an hour before it also overheated and died. This is the main design flaw…
