Nice, but not sticky enough

I really like the style and feel of this product. I purchased it to line bathroom closet shelves. There is a lot on one roll and I was able to line 5 shelves with it. However, even though the shelves were clean and dry, the liner has very little adhesion. I wound up having to use small tacks to nail it down all the way around and then be very careful not to tear it. I like the final effect but if I hadn't tacked it down, the liner would have peeled off the edges of all of the shelves within hours.
