This was a good find - all the stores in my area stopped selling these filters because they said they were too difficult to stock and keep in stock - some even blamed that Manufacturers didn't send them out and instead decided to sell them at Revain. Which made me check out Revain and Viola! Here you are! These filters do a great job of reducing the amount of dust that would be circulating in my HVAC system if I didn't install them. I recommend changing them monthly every time you get your electric bill - for optimal use - however they will last 2 months if you have trouble finding a replacement. I wouldn't recommend spending 3 months if your house has a lot of dust, either because of a lot of people and pets or because it's an old house. In addition, using these filters is easy to understand: the arrow on the side of the filter shows the correct placement in the air system, with the arrow pointing INSIDE in the direction of airflow. I also recommend writing the date on the side of the filter in the paper frame area so you know exactly when you started using the filter. That way, if something happens like you're selling or moving out of your home, the new owner or renter will know exactly when you replaced it. It also shows that you've tried to maintain higher air quality in your home and make sure you're properly maintaining the HVAC system. It is good practice to purchase these filters for a year at a time and then change them at the same time each month. I personally keep a marker pen with the filters when I store them so I can date them before placing them in the HVAC air return area. Another option is to order them individually, but this can be costly when it comes to shipping and therefore reduce the savings you could get by buying multiple or in bulk. Also, they will be individually packed in a box during shipping, so you don't have to worry about them being polluted by dust particles, lint, dead insects, etc. during storage. Simply remove the outer plastic cover, write the date on the side of the filter and replace. Be sure to recycle the old ones as they can be recycled and not just thrown in the trash and crammed into the landfill with filters. I usually shred old ones before recycling to make them easier to keep in the bin before sending them to a recycling center.
