What you need to know

I have a small engine shop and am constantly fitting them for customers. The most important thing to know is that OEMs install them BEFORE the motor is installed in the frame. If you are installing/replacing on an engine that is already in the chassis, you will likely need to remove the four engine mounting bolts and raise the engine 4 to 6 inches to give it enough room to install. correct installation. The thread is 3/8" NPTF (National Fuel Pipe Thread). The pipe threads are tapered to form a seal. The hex head must NOT touch the block to form a seal. O-ring/washer They usually have a flat machined one Sleeve around the drain hole to install the sealing ring, but not always.

Pros
  • Oil drain plugs
Cons
  • Hard to say
