Overall, I recommend this product, but I might suggest doing it when your child is a newborn. That may seem obvious to people, I know. However, I am a first time parent (of twins), and the first half of their first year flew by. With that said, the prints of 9-months old still fit in the frame. However, in general, the matting cuts off too much of the foot and handprints. I think that the directions (these directions are very detailed by the way, which were helpful), should be revised to add a note that for older infants and just in doing the project in general to be aware that the matting/border will cut into the clay print space a bit. If I would have seen that in the directions, I would have tried to be more mindful about hand and foot placement! The clay was easier to work with than I thought, but it was still a change to smooth it all out and there are some grooves here and there but no major cracks. I've only used this brand, but I imagine that most brands would have the same challenges with clay. because. well, it's clay. The frame itself is nice quality. Everything was packaged together well.So to summarize:- Good product- Leave room for matting/border when doing the prints (to the company, please consider adding this to the directions!)- Use when babies are younger! :)
