I needed a new light for my aquarium and didn't have to change the whole hood just the light. did some research on here and other sites and found these waterproof lights that will work. Well I ordered one and put it on the spot, turned it on and I had one lucky fish, I guess they didn't like being in the dark either. it illuminates the inside of the tank with a bright light and I really like it better than the fluorescent light that used to be in the hood. So I ordered a second one to complete the look of the 55 gallon tank. You need two that can easily be mounted back to back. The only thing I got were clips with the second light, not the first, to help install the hood. Don't forget to order the power supply which costs extra and I have a feeling you don't need to buy another item to get the first one working. But overall it's a great way to fix an old aquarium hood in a very sane way.
