Installed this item on my caravan. I installed it closer to the top since I could use 1 of the 5 parking lights. I chose medium light. A lowering was not possible because my spare wheel is mounted in the middle of the trailer on the bumper. My license plate is on the right, so that wasn't an option. You must turn on the light to power the camera. The installation time was about 2 hours. I spent most of my time walking up and down stairs as I didn't know what and which tools I needed. There was a helpful video on U-Pipe that gave me these ideas. The specs state the force is 180 feet. The distance from the back of the trailer to my car's dashboard is 35 feet. I get an image on the monitor. I use the cigarette lighter to power the monitor. I've never had any luck with suction cups. The base mount made the monitor too tall to fit on the dash, so I used a U-mount. I haven't had my trailer since it was installed so can't comment on highway driving or campground parking. It's a fairly basic model that doesn't give you a lot of frills, but it should suit my needs.
