When I first opened and assembled this lamp, I felt it lacked craftsmanship and felt flimsy and cheap. I actually started putting it back in the box to return when I decided to use it at night. I found that multiple light types (white, yellow, etc.) and multiple brightness settings exceeded my expectations. Magnifier is powerful but small. Difficult to see through with both eyes capable of looking for the same details). I left it because the low cost makes me doubt I can find anything better and it works well. It's just not what I would get for $300 if that makes sense. Freedom of movement without tipping over is limited. The base is not very heavy. It's useful but not nice to use when it makes sense. I need to work around some of its shortcomings to use it effectively.
