Review on Black Magnavox MBP5320 Blu-Ray Disc Player with Integrated Wi-Fi for Enhanced Connectivity by Billy Berry

I only gave one star because I couldn't give zero stars.

I bought this unit from Walwart on Christmas Eve for $58. I needed a device for a family room where kids usually go and I thought it would be perfect because it has DVD, Blu-Ray and Netflix. I also bought this because it could connect via WiFi. The problems started right away. The device takes forever to do anything. Every time you switch screens, it takes some time. And the date remote only works sometimes. These issues didn't seem that big, but then we tried connecting to Wi-Fi. It took about a day to complete this task. In the time we've spent with it, we've learned that this device is very temperamental. Only works sometimes and throws certain error screens and then if you try again without changing anything it suddenly works. Finally, after connecting the wifi, we found that the Netflix app wasn't working. We clicked on the app and it pretended to connect but never will. After trying this again and again, we finally called magnavox. We were constantly moved from person to person and put off several times without explanation. They always said it was a problem with Netflix. The Netflix folks couldn't find the issue and Netflix works great on all of our other devices in the house. After playing with it a little more we decided to return it and see if someone else did the same. We got another one, plugged it in and Netflix didn't work again. Tomorrow we will return this one and buy something from another company. After this bad product and bad customer service I will never buy anything from Magnavox again. I've never written a review on Amazon before, but I wanted to spread the word about this product so future readers don't have the same issues I did. Now I'm starting to look for a good DVD/Blu-ray with Netflix and WiFi.

Pros
  • Blu-ray player
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
