Unlike some lights, this is a proximity sensor that turns on when you open a door or drawer. There is no magnetic sensor. It's not motion sensitive. The lights have a magnetic backing that sticks to a metal surface, or an included magic wand on a metal plate. Not bright enough to dazzle. Perfect for running in the middle of the night. A bit pricey but I'm happy with them and may buy them again. Very small and thin.
