Review on SENNHEISER SET840 - TV RF Stereo Assistive Listening Headphones System for TV Optimization by Elle Foster

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best for TV Hearing aid

This is the fourth pair of hearing aids of this type that we have had in years. We started with the TV Ears brand - don't waste your money on that - and then moved on to the Sennheiser line. The first was the IR version, which requires you to be in front of the base to receive the signal. Not so useful if you want to move around. This is the second pair of SET 840 headphones we have. They use RF (radio frequency) transmission, so you can usually be anywhere nearby and get a signal. Sound with Sennheiser devices is much better for people who need hearing assistance as they boost vocal frequencies at the expense of bass or treble. . Don't think they're perfect for listening to music because they're not. But for TV/movie dialogue it works fine. The downside is the battery. OEM Sennheiser batteries are expensive, ranging from $35 to $50 or more. Non-genuine ones are much cheaper (around $9) but don't last long.
