I bought this rug because I am making a block quilt where almost all the pieces are cut on the bias and I was afraid of making a perfectly square block. As advertised, this wool padding allows the seams of quilt blocks and single pieces to nestle nicely and stay straight. The piece of fabric does not wobble at all and everything stays straight when pressed perfectly. A regular ironing board cover or silicone printing pad will allow the fabric to slide and move, but that's not the case with this wool rug. I have an iron on wool and I iron high quality cotton. Of course, it's a shame I didn't have this product decades ago when I started quilting. (Remember the difference between ironing and ironing.).
